Bat Jungle - Regular

Designed to introduce visitors to the incredible world of bats, The Bat Jungle in Monteverde offers a world-class bat exhibit where live bats fly in a simulated jungle setting. The guided tour lasts 1 hour. 90 live bats of 8 species in a 17 m (57 ft) long enclosure. Our bats fly, eat, socialize, nurse their babies, and even give birth right before our eyes. The exhibit features a special ultrasonic microphone that allows visitors to hear bats echolocating (biosonar) and socializing in real-time. Designed and operated by Dr. Richard K. Orchid garden

In the Garden you can see a collection of more than 460 species of orchids, throughout the year there is an average of 120 plants in flower per day.

80% of the natural orchids in the world are miniature. Much of our large collections are small orchids native to the Monteverde region. Including some of the smallest in the world, these stunning flowers can be smaller than 2cm wide. The tour is outdoors. all the plants are kept in a natural habitat by assimilating the forest from where they are originally found, that way you can feel as if you are walking through a jungle full of orchids.
